This Summer 2026: Lycan song studio will be taking time off  from song production -- we will be resting and sailing. We will return some time in the Autumn of 2026 to add new songs to the city skapes album projects, along with completing the taverns and travelers album.

Here are 2 more new website links below to showcase our songs:

These are my piano improvisation compositions  from 2013 -- 2018.  All piano pieces above are recorded to midi DAW (Logic and Pro Tools) using Synthogy Ivory piano virtual software. I played/performed all of these pieces in real time on Kurzweil and Yamaha electronic  pianos; I sat and recorded as I performed the pieces in those moments. Before showcasing these improvisation compositions  here, I made minor edits (in midi DAW) to these piano pieces removing any wrong passing notes, clunkers, etc.

Here we post the April 11, 2026 mix for song: "Love is the Only Light in the Universe" (2016).  This song arrangement will include eclectic musical elements. This song is in the World Music genre/category. It is about our human experience, the nature of life, the power of compassion and love on the Earth in an otherwise turbulent cosmos.  I want to thank Sequential, Moog, Kurzweil and Roland for their fine synths and keyboard technologies -- and Eduardo Tarilonte for his fine virtual instrument and sound libraries. And, I thank FXpansion BFD virtual drum products along with Groove Monkey for their fine midi-loops.

"Why is Love so Hard"

by Brad Lycan (1986)

Verse 1

I recall – the day we met

You said our love would never be

this made me feel – the heavy heart

You just stood up and walked away

Chorus

Why is love so hard –

Why is love so hard.

Verse 2

The many years of letters – from you

with stamps across the whole wide world

and they tell me – that you – are now famous

as I sit here in the West.

Chorus

Why is love so hard –

Why is love so hard.

Why is love so hard –

Why is love so hard.

Sax solo: Todd

Chorus

Why is love so hard –

Why is love so hard.

Why is love so hard –

Why is love so hard.

Verse 3

When I talked with you – alone

that last night on the phone

I felt your heart – was crying again

but you chose that way yourself

and you know I think that you and me

it’s a distant love affair.

Chorus

Why is love so hard –

Why is love so hard.

Why is love so hard –

Why is love so hard.

Guitar solo: Don

This month of May 2026 we completed this album project: with the song "Why is Love so Hard" that I wrote in 1986 -- a folk song balade.

Ok, so these songs of mine begin as exploration and discovery --  piano improvisation with some kind of vocal impulses expressing emotions and the experience of the song. I have an idea to start, but the song follows it own path. As the song writer, I just let and enjoy the creative process. The key is to record everything; do not delete any of your writing work -- save and file.

Here I am writing and recording the original song  file track "I Hear You" to the lead-off song from Adriana Nikole's city skapes "somewhere" album above.  I am with playing piano and singing beginning lyrics (I added a back-vocal as well.)

It is never a perfect process when sitting down at piano to write. Getting out your emotions is only part of it. Allowing the music to express the song emotion and idea must come with the initial notes and chordal changes when beginning to play the song. The process is not linear at all: the process is really an emergence and explosion of the experience being  captured thru the medium of song.  Song is real-time expression -- poetry. Song writers feel and sense, breathe and  sigh, see and tell.

Hence, the song writer brings the song from the ethers of daily living.

Here we showcase the new taverns and travelers collection of songs we began recording  Summer/early Fall  2025 from Lycan Studio. These are beginning mixes to showcase the song ideas. These songs will include Rock and Blues/Rock  genres with a mainstream popular commercial appeal.

Studio musicians include: Don Carr (guitars), Todd Wilkinson (saxophone), and Stan Kessler  (trumpet) -- who are all club players with years of Blues, Rock, and Jazz experience. Dieu Aime  Nsikoh is the young one of the group, yet his gift as a bass guitarist will be a good compliment to these seasoned players. Vocalist Kat Bowser will be singing these songs: it will give her chance to step out a bit to showcase her craft with Blues and Rock music genres.  I will be playing piano and keyboards.  We will return to this album in the Fall/Autumn of 2026.

ere are poential songs we will be adding to this album project: "Caught in the Middle," "Blow Away Love," "Love Passes Slow," "I See You," "In My Life," "Still in the Wind," "You Are Free," "Don't Let it Fly Away," and "Late Last Night."

Here above I showcase some of the songs I will produce later this year 2026: these songs are in their beginning forms, the original song  files with me playing piano and singing beginning lyrics (I added some  back-vocals as well.)

I will begin this new album of mine in the Autumn of 2026 -- featuring me on piano and vocals along with Dieu Aime Nsikoh on bass guitar and Don Carr on guitars. These songs will be a blend of Rock and Folk ballades with a blue edge.

Contributing musicians on the Kat Bowser eclectic song projects are: Don Carr (guitars), Dieu Aime Nsikoh (bass guitars), Todd Wilkinson (saxophones), Stan Kessler (trumpet and flugelhorn), and me, Brad Lycan on pianos and keyboards. These musicians above collaborate on these varied projects, and each musician above writes/composes his own parts. They, therefore, own a % part of the SR (Sound Recording) copyright per song from their recorded track contribution. This includes vocalist Kat Bowser.

The PA (Performing Arts) copyrights to all music compositions, song lyrics and song music on this website are the sole ownership of Bradley David Lycan.

This song -- "When it Comes to and End" -- begins my own album how many Rainbows.  I will resume working on this song collection in 2026--2027. I will be singing these songs on this album myself. These album songs are from  the very last collection of songs I wrote in a 5-year cycle of song writing (between 2014-2018) when I was in my mid-60's -- the most prolific in my life. This album how many Rainbows marks the end of a long journey I began as a much younger man. Contributing musicians  for this music albums are: Don Carr (guitars), Dieu Aime Nsikoh (bass guitars), Todd Wilkinson (saxophones), Stan Kessler (trumpet and flugelhorn), and me, Brad Lycan on pianos and keyboards and vocals.

Journey to Yore Land is an eclectic collection of songs with an Alternative Rock edge. When we began this album the summer of 2019, we selected a hand-full of few songs and just started recording them: there was no direction or plan whatsoever, and the musicians had never played together before -- however the songs turned out, and we added them to the album. This project became the 1st album on my website. We will also improve and /or re-record some of the keyboard tracks (Brad has new synths and virtual instruments), some of the horn tracks, some of the guitar and bass guitar tracks, some of the vocal tracks, and improve all of the song's over-all mixes. We will revisit this album: it has some good songs of mine that warrant the extra time investment.

Whereas our 2019-2023, 2026 album Journey to Yore Land  is about the desolate archaic lands of our quests for love and ascension: our 2026-27 album Journey to Yore Land ii "ti the end of your love" is about the enduring holly tree branch growing amidst these ancient ruins, the secret winds, and silent dreams that take us to hidden sea shores where we embark on the enduring quest for survival.

In 2026 we begin a new music album venture -- Journey to Yore Land ii "til the end of your love." This will be a collection of songs with a more mellow Rock appeal: it will be a "concept" album with a preconceived theme and direction --  that will include a nice array of instruments, layered vocals, and keyboards.  Contributing Musicians: trumpeter Stan Kessler, guitarist Don Carr, saxophonist Todd Wilkinson, bass guitarist Dieu Aime Nsikoh, vocalist Adrian Nikole, vocalist Kat Bowser, and pianist/keyboardist Brad Lycan.

The city skapes album projects 2021--2027.
               Ideal for television and film.

The city skapes album projects features vocalist Adriana Nikole. There are 8  albums: city skapes Adriana Nicole "song showcase," city skapes i "inside my room," city skapes ii "the edge," city skapes iii "somewhere," city skapes iv "street signs," city skapes v "doorways," city skapes vi "walkways & bridges,"  and city skapes vii "rooms and intersektions."  The city skapes v "doorways" and cite skapes vii "rooms and intersektions" album projects will be ongoing in 2026 and 2027.  Contributing musicians on the city skapes album projects are: Don Carr (guitars), Dieu Aime Nsikoh (bass guitars), Todd Wilkinson (saxophones), Stan Kessler (trumpet and flugelhorn), and me, Brad Lycan on pianos and keyboards. These musicians above collaborate on these city skapes album projects, and each musician above writes/composes his own parts. They, therefore, own a % part of the SR (Sound Recording) copyright per song from their recorded track contribution. This includes vocalist Adriana Nikole.  The PA (Performing Arts) copyrights to all music compositions, song lyrics and song music on this website are the sole ownership of Bradley David Lycan.

In 2026 we add our last song here -- "The Lonesome Wolf."

The city skapes v "doorways" album will be ongoing during 2026-2027. We will add songs here as they come amidst our song production.

In 2026 we begin the city skapes vii album "rooms and intersektions."

These 6  city skapes album projects present an eclectic collection of songs about the urban and sub-urban landscapes -- a world of people, rooms, musty halls,  staircases, and walkways -- the pensive hours of village and aloofness, gray illumined days that empty into night, the pacing of clocks with faces that pass over bridges to nowhere but across.  Songs about hope yet void and loss in quests that reach into sky and aloneness without, be it butterfly or moth in the flutter of flame there burn into dross -- yet songs and the wind blow gently and always from green to stone in cosmos to the streets. Their eyes never tell as they mill and churn, to speak and look, to greet and story, to hear and leave.

Instrumental album projects -- for film and venture.

Nocturnal Sarai is an instrumental project -- exploratory in nature. The foundation of each  composition are my piano improvisations (2015-2017) I edited and then orchestrated with synthesizers and sampled sound software, virtual instruments for Mac and PC computers.

Trumpeter Stan Kessler and saxophonist Todd Wilkinson contributed their own original horn parts to my orchestrated versions of these 4  improvisational piano pieces.
